Izard County Jail Roster
The official Izard County jail roster is a free public list on the sheriff's website for Sheriff Charley Melton's office. It showed "Inmate Roster (24)" when inspected on May 28, 2026. That number is a roster snapshot, not an average jail population or annual booking count. The list cards showed mugshots, names, booking numbers, booking dates, charge descriptions, bond when present, and a "View Profile >>>" link. The roster is the right first stop for current local jail custody at the Izard County Detention Facility.
The public roster does not work like a typed search box. It is a browse-first interface. Users can sort by name or date, choose current or released records, switch newest to oldest or oldest to newest, use A-Z letter links from the alphabetical view, move through pagination, and open a profile by booking number. The released view exists, but it showed zero records during the same inspection. Older bookings may require a call, a records request, or court search rather than a current roster view.
The sheriff's Detention & Dispatch Center page describes the jail as a local long-term lockup built in 2003. It holds arrestees until bond, release, sentencing, or transfer, and it can hold Arkansas DOC-sentenced people while they wait for intake bed space. That custody mix matters. A person may be in the Melbourne jail before transfer, but after state prison transfer the better search path is the Arkansas DOC locator.
Use Izard County Inmate Records
Start with the sheriff roster when the person may be in current Izard County custody. The profile URL is keyed to the booking number, so that number is worth saving once found. Booking numbers observed on the roster used a two-digit year and four-digit sequence, such as `26-0165`. A booking number from the prior year can still appear when the person remains in custody.
- Open the current Izard County inmate roster and check the heading count.
- Browse the default booking-date list first, since recent bookings are easiest to spot there.
- Use the Name tab or A-Z filters from the alphabetical view when scanning by last name.
- Use pagination controls if the person is not on the first roster screen.
- Open "View Profile >>>" for the full booking profile and warning note.
- Call 870-368-4203 before posting bond because the sheriff profile says charges, bail, and case numbers may change.
The current roster is not the only access channel. If a person was just arrested, the profile may lag the intake event. If the person bonded out, was released, or was transferred, the current list may no longer show the booking. If the person is under a hold for another agency, ADC, parole, federal custody, or ICE, the roster may give only part of the custody picture.
The current roster screenshot from the sheriff site shows the browse layout, profile links, booking numbers, charge text, and pagination used for Izard County inmate records.
The screenshot is useful because it confirms there is no typed full-text roster search box on the public list. Browsing, sorting, and profile review are the practical steps.
Izard County Roster Controls
The roster controls should be read as links and filters, not as a normal database form. That is the main reason users miss records when they expect a last-name box. The alphabetical page at roster.php?orderby=1 adds letter links, while the released roster view uses a separate released flag.
| Field Label / Control | Type | Required | Options / Format Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Link/tab | No | Opens the alphabetical roster and A-Z letter filtering. |
| Date | Link/tab | No | Returns to date-ordered booking records. |
| Current | Link/tab | No | Shows people currently listed in Izard County jail custody. |
| Released | Link/tab | No | Available as a public view, but showed zero records on inspection. |
| Sort Newest to Oldest | Link | No | Default booking-date order for recent roster entries. |
| A-Z letters | Link filters | No | Filter by first letter in the alphabetical roster view. |
| View Profile >>> | Profile link | No | Opens a page keyed by booking number, such as `YY-NNNN`. |
When the current and released views do not solve the search, use the sheriff's phone and records routes. The sheriff administration page says Administration handles records maintenance, criminal case files, money receipts, court coordination, fines, and restitution. A formal Arkansas FOIA request should identify the person, booking number if known, booking date range, record type, and preferred copy or inspection format.
Izard County Inmate Profile Fields
A sample Izard County public profile inspected at booking number 26-0165 showed more detail than the list card. The profile showed a larger booking photo, age, gender, race, city and state address, booking date and time, charge descriptions, and bond. It did not show date of birth, height, weight, housing unit, case number, court date, warrant number, arresting agency, release date, or statute-code columns.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot | Public booking photo on the roster card and profile. |
| Name | Last-name-first on the roster list and full name on the profile. |
| Booking # | Local booking number in a format like `26-0165`. |
| Age, gender, race | Profile-level demographic fields using numbers or short codes. |
| Address | City and state level in the inspected sample, not a street address. |
| Booking Date | Month, day, year, and time of booking. |
| Charges | Plain-language charge descriptions, not court disposition language. |
| Bond | A listed amount when present. Some roster records omit bond. |
| Profile warning | Charges and bail may change, so call jail staff for current details. |
The sheriff's warning is practical, not boilerplate. Bond companies and people trying to post bail are told to call Detention Center staff at 870-368-4203 for the correct bail amount, charges, and case numbers. That warning also explains why a roster charge should be checked against court records after a hearing or filing.
Izard County Custody Channels
Izard County inmate records split across several agencies because local custody, state prison custody, federal custody, immigration detention, and notification systems serve different purposes. The county jail roster is for current local booking records. The Arkansas DOC inmate search is for sentenced state custody, including people at Benny Magness Unit (Formerly North Central Unit) in Calico Rock. The BOP inmate locator is for sentenced federal prisoners, while ICE ODLS is for eligible immigration detention searches.
| Custody or Need | Where to Look | Local Note |

| Current county jail custody | Sheriff roster | Use roster cards and profiles for booking data. |
| Bond, charges, case number | Call 870-368-4203 | County profile specifically says to verify by phone. |
| Older booking or mugshot | Sheriff records / Arkansas FOIA | Use 300 Circle Drive, Melbourne, AR 72556, mail, fax, or counter contact. |
| Sentenced Arkansas prison custody | Arkansas DOC locator | Use for DOC custody and Benny Magness Unit. |
| Victim/custody notification | VINELink / Arkansas VINE | Use VINELink or call 1-800-510-0415. |
| Federal or ICE custody | BOP, USMS, or ICE tools | No federal or ICE detention facility was located in Izard County. |
| Sheriff mobile app | No official app found | No app-only roster or warrant feature was documented. |
For in-person or mail requests, use the Izard County Sheriff's Office and jail address at 300 Circle Drive, Melbourne, AR 72556. The sheriff contact page lists 870-368-4203, fax 870-368-5226, and administrative office hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The website contact form should not be used for urgent custody issues, and the sheriff warns that plain email is not secure.
Izard County Jail Facilities
Two facilities are central to Izard County inmate records, but they do not serve the same custody role. The Izard County Detention Facility is the county jail for booking, bond, local custody, short-term holds, and people awaiting transfer. Benny Magness Unit is a state prison run by the Arkansas Department of Corrections. A person sentenced in an Izard County case may appear in the jail while awaiting DOC bed space, then move to DOC search after transfer.

Izard County Booking Records
Booking begins when a person is brought to the Izard County Detention Facility after an arrest, warrant service, or transfer for local custody. The jail creates a booking number, records a booking date and time, takes a booking photograph, and lists charge descriptions for the public roster when the record is published. The sheriff says detainees are separated by male/female and violent/non-violent categories. The jail also holds people sentenced to Arkansas DOC until an intake bed is available.
Booking does not prove guilt. The sheriff's weekly incarceration reports use a presumption-of-innocence notice, and the roster profile warns that charge and bail information may change after court appearances. For filed court charges, use Izard County court records after jail arrest and Search ARCourts. For booking photos, use the roster and profile process described on the Izard County jail mugshots page.

Izard County Visitation Rules
Izard County publishes a short, specific visitation rule for the county jail. Visits are Sunday by appointment only, and the appointment must be made before the Wednesday deadline. Each prisoner receives one short visit, and visitors must bring valid picture identification. The detention page also states that no property is released during visiting hours, so property questions should be handled by phone before anyone travels to the jail.
| Facility | Visit Type | Schedule | Appointment Rule | Visitor Rule |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Izard County Detention Facility | In person | Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. | Call 870-368-4203 by Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. | One 15-minute visit per prisoner, up to four visitors, valid picture ID required. |
No official county jail video-visit vendor, inmate phone vendor, commissary vendor, deposit kiosk, mail address format, remote visit fee, dress code, or attorney-visit rule was located in the official sources reviewed. For mail, money, phone, and property questions at the county jail, call 870-368-4203 and ask for the jail.
